We admit we are
dog-addicted and find the different characteristics and traits within the
different breeds fascinating!
Our Name the Breed Dog Contest's purpose is
two fold, one is to have fun and test
your knowledge of the myriad of dog breeds available from which to
choose your next pet. The second purpose is to be a
source of information on the different dog breeds, including temperament of the
breed, the most appropriate life style for a good match between the human and
the dog, level of activity, etc.
A dog that sheds a
lot is not a good fit for a person with allergies. A large dog is not a good fit for a person
who wants a "portable" dog who can travel by plane easily. A senior citizen with a sedentary life style is not going to be a good match for a Portugese Water Dog. An athletic person who likes to hike in the
woods is not going to find a 3 lb Chihuahua to be a good fit for their
lifestyle.
All dogs need
exercise and attention; some need less and some need more. A Pekinese is perfectly happy being a
lap dog in a sedentary home; a Golden Retriever may become destructive in that
same home setting.
We hope that you find

How the Contest Works
At the beginning of
each month, accessible via this link in the navigation menu, there will be a
contest page for that months contest.
Unless noted otherwise, the breeds will all be recognized by the AKC.
The first week, three
clues will be given about the chosen breed.
The second week, more clues will be added. The third week, yet more
clues.
Entries of your guess

The prize each month
will be a Tank Shirt from Doggy Style Designs chosen from the shirts shown below and a $25.00 gift
certificate. Gift certificates are valid
for three months from date of issue.

per week.
The winning entry will be determined first by naming the correct breed. If there are multiple submissions of the correct answer to the mystery breed, the date and time of the receipt of the email will determine the winner.
